From design...

Each Alfin® brake drum is carefully designed to match the customers’ requirements, whether the customer has a high performance race car or a weekend road car. By using our own collection of drawings, by making detailed models and drawings using a customers’ sample brake drum as reference or by designing a completely bespoke brake drum from scratch, we can manufacture a set of brake drums exactly to the customers’ specification.

All of our Alfin® brake drums are manufactured from castings produced by a carefully hand-picked selection of English ferrous and non-ferrous foundries, ensuring the highest quality control and standards are met right from the start. Our braking surface "liners" are made from a unique grade of cast iron, developed by ourselves and skilled metallurgists to create the ideal material for improved brake performance. They have been designed to withstand and rigorously tested under the harshest of conditions.

These liners are then cast and mechanically sealed into the main body of our brake drums, made from high grade aluminium and of suitable dimensions for the finished brake drum. This procedure renders axial and/or circumferential movement impossible and are also therefore much lighter than their original cast iron or steel plate counter parts. We also carry Certificates of Conformity on all castings made, to ensure the aluminium is of the highest quality.

All of our Alfin® brake drums are then fully machined to precise and high standards, leaving no rough cast or uneven surface. This not only ensures the brake drums are extremely well balanced but they are also aesthetically pleasing, a perfect addition to your pride and joy. All this provides a perfect fit first time and every time and guarantees the best possible performance in the long term.
